The talk is about the journey of implementing a cloud agnostic petabyte scale digital asset solution called Volly. Volly is a global web portal that allows consumers to collect, store, and organize all of their important bills/statements, and documents into one, secure location. Volly also enables consumers to pay these bills from this, single site.
The session will talk about the important architecture and design decisions taken for selecting the right NoSQL technology (in this case Cassandra), how some core and basic features were built over the last 2 years of internal development and how the NoSQL technologies are now evolving to add those features in the core product.
The talk will also cover what are those missing features that need to be added to NoSQL technologies to truly be positioned as an enterprise ready data store.
Sanjay is a big data architect in Impetus. He has been working as a Solution/Technical architect in Big data and Cloud technologies for the last 5 years with overall software industry experience of around 16 years. He has played pivotal roles as architect in various domains such as healthcare, financial, CRM, manufacturing and banking/insurance using multiple technologies like Hadoop, Hive, Cassandra, MongoDB, MPP DW and Java/J2EE/SOA technologies. He started the Hadoop India Linked-in group, is an active contributor to open source as well as a regular speaker in HPC/Big data, Cloud and Agile events. He holds a master degree in automation engineering from Russian People's Friendship University.
