Whereas scale and performance are generally been the initial motivation for most customers who are deploying NoSQL, the product developers quickly realized that analytical capabilities would be needed in order to compete, especially if NoSQL was to gain traction within the enterprise. As a result, analytical features are now rolling out fast, and many third-party vendors are emerging. These applications are addressing both Big Data and enterprise Business Intelligence requirements, and often offering the same rapid scalability that NoSQL databases themselves provide. Some of the leading examples are in the graph space, which provides unique opportunity for discovery, to the high-performance and real-time analytics that go far beyond traditional data warehouse capabilities.
